Problem Jantung pada Penyakit Kawasaki

Abstract

Penyakit Kawasaki merupakan penyakit akut, vaskulitis yang sembuh sendiri (self-limited).Penyakit ini menyerang bayi dan anak-anak, penyebabnya tidak diketahui. Tomisaku Kawasaki menemukan kasus pertama tahun 1961 pada anak usia 4 tahun yang menderita demam dengan bercak kemerahan. Pada tahun 1967, Kawasaki melihat 50 pasien dengan gejala yang sama, yaitu demam akut disertai eksantema dan menegakkan diagnosisnya sebagai mucocutaneus lymph node syndrome.
Penyakit tersebut mulai dikenal luas di luar Jepang sejak tahun 1974 setelah Kawasaki melaporkannya dalam suatu jurnal di Inggris.
